AnnouncementsUpcoming schedule. Please note this is a carefully ordered curriculum, not a "pick what you want." Our purpose is to see that our graduates really can work a computer well enough to pull their own weight in a business office: later classes expect that you have already mastered what was taught in earlier classes. YOU MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE prerequisite classes before participating in the more advanced classes. If you do not know what this means, then we invite you to begin by completing the Beginners class, Monday at 9:00AM. Monday 9:00 (weekly) Adult Life Training Beginners Computer Class -- learn how to start the computer, operate the windows, and properly shut down the computer from volunteer instructor Barbara Goss. Barbara started s few years ago in the Adult Life training program and now volunteers her time to help others learn. Monday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30 Adult Life Training computer class -- This student group has already passed the CORE classes and is working on finishing the Spreadsheet class. Next they will do the Word Processing class. The volunteer instructor is Donna Cobbins. You can't just walk into this class -- you must pass the other classes first. Tuesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30 Adult Life Training computer class -- This student group has already passed the CORE classes and is working on finishing the Spreadsheet class. Next they will do the Word Processing class. The volunteer instructor is John Nash. You can't just walk into this class -- you must pass the other classes first. Thursday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30 Adult Life Training computer class -- This student group has already passed the CORE and Spreadsheet classes and is working on finishing the Word Processing class. Next they will do the Presentations class. The volunteer instructor is John Nash. You can't just walk into this class -- you must pass the other classes first. Friday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30 Adult Life Training computer class -- This student group has already passed the entire curriculum and works the computer fairly well. They have now learned to work both Linux and Microsoft computers, got bored, and decided they needed to have another class: something more challenging! They are programming their own web pages with a text editor in HTML and CSS. Next they will add programming in the PHP computer language, and then add MySQL databases to their web pages. Pretty good for a bunch of folks that couldn't turn on a computer when they started... The volunteer instructor is John Nash. You can just walk into this class and jump in but be warned! We are all crazy! You will need the book, which costs about $15 at the local bookstores, or less on-line from Sam's Publishing. The book is "Teach Yourself CSS in 10 Minutes" by Russ Weakly, Sam's Publishing, ISBN 0-672-32745-7. List cost is $14.99 but I got a 10% discount buying on-line. The Sam's Publishing web site is at http://safari.informit.com/0672327457.
